Close games were sprinkled through the round robin with a notable mention going to Frank Filippelli and Jesse Laeuchli who were one game away from making the final. The standout pairs were the two who eventually played in the final, Graeme Blundstone and Stuart Strange, and Patrick Dunne and Jimmy O’Sullivan. It was Jimmy’s first real tennis tournament having only taken up the game in the last couple of months.
Dunne and O’Sullivan were a very good pair with a combination of Dunne’s experience and O’Sullivan’s raw volleying ability but they were pipped at the post by the steadiness of Blundstone and Strange. It was a fantastic final which was won 6/5.
Huge thanks to Lizzie and Geoff for all their efforts to provide an absolute feast for the full crowd.
