Sydney introduced some new faces as the tourists enjoyed the delights of Cheltenham’s Molly’s café, knowing that one more match would retain the trophy for RMTC in the best of 12 format. As the visitors tired, SRTC reeled off four straight victories, leaving the final match as the decider, with Sydney leading on games if the matches were squared at six all.
In a swinging match, Alex Rackham and Chris Cooper moved to a 6-4 lead, before Jonathan Hamer and Jonathan Buckley withstood a few more of Alex’s forces and won the match 8-6, giving RMTC and 7-5 win over SRTC.
Straight after the National League visit the previous weekend, Sydney is embracing visiting teams and puts on a special show in the Harbour City. Thank you to the Committee and members of the SRTC, plus Alex Marino-Hume and Nat Cherry, the newly arrived assistant Pro.
