To say simply that the #1 seed won each of the four events would be underselling the competitiveness and historical significance of this year’s Championships. The 2026 Australian Open saw the largest entry list in many years with 36 players travelling to the RMTC to compete. It started earlier than usual with qualifying taking up a full two days.

Many of the matches were close, with a number going to the full 3- or 5-set distance. We were fortunate to have both the Men’s and Women’s World Champions playing, demonstrating the extraordinary standard of real tennis at the top. The event concluded with a pair of Australians winning the Open doubles in a 4 hour marathon in front a packed crowd.

The RMTC was at its best on the Finals Days, coinciding with the arrival of hundreds of Boomerang Cup visitors.

The 2026 Australian Open offered its highest ever prize pool, thanks to ARTA, RMTC and over 30 RMTC member benefactors showing their support for the game. All the Pros, including World Champions Camden Riviere and Claire Fahey, contributed as Ambassadors of the game, on and off the court.
